Waterside Retreat Father's Day Card

There’s something timeless and peaceful about a day spent by the water—and that calm inspiration is exactly what this Father’s Day card captures.

For this design, I leaned into the serene patterns from the Waterside Retreat Designer Series Paper, layering soft blues and subtle textures to create depth and movement. The combination of these papers instantly sets a relaxing, lakeside tone, perfect for celebrating dads who love the outdoors or simply appreciate a quiet escape.

The focal panel features imagery from the Waterside Retreat DSP to keep everything cohesive while adding a crisp contrast. I layered this over coordinating patterns from the Waterside Retreat DSP to frame the scene and draw the eye inward.

To add dimension and a touch of personality, I fussy cut the life vest and oars directly from the Waterside Retreat DSP. These little details bring the card to life and reinforce the outdoor theme without overwhelming the design. Placing the oars at an angle adds a bit of movement, while the life vest gives a subtle nod to lakeside adventures.

The sentiment, “Happy Father’s Day,” from the Relaxing Waterside stamp set, is kept clean and simple so it doesn’t compete with the imagery, but still stands out thanks to the Night of Navy cardstock mat.

This card is a great reminder that you don’t need a lot of embellishments when your paper does the storytelling. With a few thoughtful layers and carefully chosen details, you can create a design that feels both meaningful and effortlessly relaxed—just like a perfect day on the water.

Eyelet Blooms Mother's Day Card

There is something quietly magical about a handmade card — the way it holds intention in every layer, every carefully placed bloom. This Mother's Day card came together as a celebration of soft femininity, built on a foundation of Fresh Freesia cardstock in the most dreamy shade of lavender.

The background is embossed using the Eyelet Blooms die, which presses a delicate, lace-like texture across the entire card front. It is subtle but transformative — catching the light just so, adding depth without competing with the focal design.

At the heart of the card sits a sentiment panel stamped from the Scalloped Wishes stamp set and heat embossed in white, giving the "Happy Mother's Day" sentiment a beautiful, raised finish that glows against the lavender. The panel was then cut using the coordinating Scalloped Wishes dies, leaving those gorgeous scalloped and dotted edges that frame the sentiment so elegantly.

The flowers are the star of the show. Fussy cut from Lovely & Beautiful Specialty Designer Series Paper, each bloom was carefully trimmed and shaped to create dimension. The DSP's soft watercolor-style printing means no two arrangements look exactly alike — each card takes on its own personality. Layered around the sentiment panel alongside Scalloped Wishes die-cut leaves in rich Old Olive, the florals spill over the edges of the label in the most natural, garden-fresh way.

The finishing touches are everything. A scattering of Purple Fine Shimmer Gems catches the light across the card front — tiny jewels that add a refined sparkle without overwhelming the softness of the design.

Gold Foiled Sympathy Card

There’s something undeniably striking about the contrast of gold and black, and this card leans fully into that elegance. The rich, dramatic background paired with delicate gold foiled florals creates a design that feels both bold and beautifully refined—perfect for expressing heartfelt sympathy.

For this card, the floral pattern takes center stage. The gold foil outlines bring a soft shimmer and highlight every petal and leaf, giving the design a timeless, almost heirloom quality. To deepen the contrast and add drama, the background was carefully colored using Basic Black Stampin’ Blends. This technique allows the florals to truly pop, as the dark backdrop enhances the brilliance of the gold detailing.

The layered look adds to the sophistication. A slim Gold Foil cardstock panel frames the floral panel, tying everything together and echoing the foiling in the design. The card base in Basic Black grounds the piece, giving it a polished and cohesive finish.

The sentiment, “With Sympathy,” is heat embossed in gold on a black label, creating a simple yet powerful focal point. Its placement across the lower portion of the card ensures it stands out without overwhelming the intricate background.

This card is a beautiful reminder that sympathy designs don’t have to be overly soft or muted. Sometimes, a bold contrast and a touch of shine can convey warmth, care, and sincerity in an equally meaningful way.
