A Frightfully Fun Halloween Card

There’s something extra fun about a Halloween card filled with playful ghosts, flying bats, and a little bit of copper shine! This card combines the Frightfully Fun Designer Series Paper with the Starry Night Hot Foil Die to create a spooky background with just the right amount of sparkle. I couldn't resist recreating this design with my own little twist after spotting it on the online samples page for the Oh My Fright stamp set.

Creating the Card Front

I started with a Basic Black cardstock card base. For the background panel, I used the Starry Night Hot Foil Die with Copper Embossing Foil to create a beautiful starry design on Basic Black cardstock. The copper foil really pops against the black and gives the card a fun, nighttime Halloween feel.

For the center panel, I used the light side of Basic Black Two-Tone cardstock and stamped it with the Starry Night stamp using Basic Black Hybrid ink. To give the panel a little more character and a distressed, spooky look, I ran the back (dull side) of my Detail Scissors around the edges to rough them up.

The sentiment was stamped onto a piece of Frightfully Fun Designer Series Paper using the Oh My Fright stamp set and Basic Black Hybrid ink. I adhered it to the card front using Black Stampin’ Dimensionals, giving the sentiment some added dimension.

Next came the ghosts! I fussy cut three ghosts from the Frightfully Fun Designer Series Paper and adhered them to the card front with Black Stampin’ Dimensionals. I love how the ghosts appear to be floating across the card!

A few Black Dots from the Adhesive-Backed Bats, Ghosts & Dots were added for the finishing touch.

Inside the Card

For the inside, I added a Pumpkin Pie cardstock layer to the Basic Black card base and topped it with a Basic White cardstock panel.

The sentiment and cloud of bats are both from the Oh My Fright stamp set and were stamped in Basic Black Hybrid ink. The simple inside design coordinates perfectly with the spooky card front while leaving plenty of room for a personal Halloween message.

I love how the combination of Basic Black, Pumpkin Pie, Copper Foil, and the soft gray-and-white ghosts creates a fun Halloween night scene. This card is a great example of how a few layers, some fussy cutting, and a touch of hot foil can turn simple elements into a frightfully fun handmade card!
