Gold Foiled Sympathy Card

There’s something undeniably striking about the contrast of gold and black, and this card leans fully into that elegance. The rich, dramatic background paired with delicate gold foiled florals creates a design that feels both bold and beautifully refined—perfect for expressing heartfelt sympathy.

For this card, the floral pattern takes center stage. The gold foil outlines bring a soft shimmer and highlight every petal and leaf, giving the design a timeless, almost heirloom quality. To deepen the contrast and add drama, the background was carefully colored using Basic Black Stampin’ Blends. This technique allows the florals to truly pop, as the dark backdrop enhances the brilliance of the gold detailing.

The layered look adds to the sophistication. A slim Gold Foil cardstock panel frames the floral panel, tying everything together and echoing the foiling in the design. The card base in Basic Black grounds the piece, giving it a polished and cohesive finish.

The sentiment, “With Sympathy,” is heat embossed in gold on a black label, creating a simple yet powerful focal point. Its placement across the lower portion of the card ensures it stands out without overwhelming the intricate background.

This card is a beautiful reminder that sympathy designs don’t have to be overly soft or muted. Sometimes, a bold contrast and a touch of shine can convey warmth, care, and sincerity in an equally meaningful way.

I hope you enjoyed my card for today.

Under the Moon Sympathy Card

Unfortunately, I needed to make a sympathy card this week for a dear friend of mine who lost her sister.  My friend likes to go to the beach, so I thought this would be a fitting card for her.

This card was inspired by a card on Pinterest that was made by Rachel Woollard.

The card starts with a Night of Navy card base, followed by a Blueberry Bushel cardstock panel that has been cut out using one of the Deckled Rectangles dies.

The Blueberry Bushel panel has been wrapped with Linen Thread.

The Basic White cardstock top panel has been cut out using one of the Deckled Rectangles dies.

The sky in the circle was stamped using one of the Under the Moon stamps directly onto the top panel using Azure Afternoon ink.  The small circle was colored using a Sponge Dauber and Daffodil Delight ink.

The sky was stamped again onto a scrap of Basic White cardstock using Smoky Slate ink and then fussy cut. Daffodil Delight ink was added along the edge using a Sponge Dauber.  The dolphin from the Under the Moon stamp set was stamped using Tuxedo Black Memento ink.

The sky was colored with a Blending Brush and Balmy Blue ink.

Using a masking technique the clouds from the Under the Moon stamp set have been stamped in Smoky Slate ink.

The water was stamped by applying Balmy Blue ink and then using a Sponge Dauber to blend Blueberry Bushel along the edges of the stamp. Daffodil Delight ink was added to the center of the water using a Sponge Dauber.  The dolphin has been stamped in Tuxedo Black Memento ink.

The sentiment is from the Unbounded Love stamp set using Blueberry Bushel ink.
Here's a look at the inside of the card.

The sentiment is from the Unbounded Love stamp set and has been stamped in Blueberry Bushel ink.

I hope you enjoyed looking at my card today.

Country Flowers - Sympathy

During one of the nights of OnStage, Stampin' Up! had an after hours event that we could attend. During this after hours event, we got to play with some of the new product that will debut with the release of the new 2024-2025 Annual Stampin' Up! catalog on May 1, 2024.

This card is one of the cards we made during the after hours event.

The card has a Shy Shamrock cardstock (163795) card base that has been stamped with one of the stamps from the Country Flowers stamp set (163405) in Shy Shamrock ink (163808).  The next panel is Lemon Lime Twist cardstock.

The plant and bucket are from the Country Flowers stamp set and have been stamped in Jet Black StazOn ink onto Basic White cardstock.  Lemon Lime Twist, Petunia Pop (163811) and Shy Shamrock ink along with a Small Blending Brush were used to color the plant and bucket.

Shy Shamrock and Petunia Pop are some of the new 2024-2026 In-Colors.

The sentiment is from the Country Flowers stamp set and has been stamped in Jet Black StazOn ink onto Petunia Pop (163801) cardstock.

2024-2026 In-Color Shimmer Gems (163781) were added for accent.
