Stack and Shuffle Halloween, Card 3

We've made it to the last card in my Stack and Shuffle Halloween trio! Check out the other two cards here and here. If you're just joining me, this technique — inspired by Patty Bennett — is all about stacking a few coordinating designer series paper panels together, cutting them all at once, then shuffling the pieces before reassembling the card front. It's a great way to squeeze a fun patchwork look out of your paper scraps, and this third card might be my favorite background of the bunch.

Card Three Details

Once again the patchwork background comes from the Frightfully Fun Designer Series Paper, stacked, cut, and shuffled onto a Basic Black card base — this one mixes the ghost print, the swirly night sky, and the little star print together beautifully.

For this card I went with a spooky little scene instead of a big die-cut sentiment. A bare black tree branch anchors the panel, with a couple of ghostly silhouettes cut from Vellum fluttering through its branches and a sweet black cat peeking in from the corner — the tree, ghosts, and cat are all cut using the Oh My Fright Dies. A trio of little bats cut from Basic Black cardstock, also using the Oh My Fright Dies, finish off the sky, along with a few white dot embellishments from the Adhesive-Backed Bats, Ghosts and Dots scattered in for a bit of shimmer. The "TRICK OR TREAT" sentiment banner tucked in at the top finishes off the scene.

Inside, I stamped "Happy Halloween" from the Oh My Fright Stamp Set, and added a sweet little ghost fussy cut from the Frightfully Fun DSP to send it off with a smile.

A Spooky Season Halloween Card

Halloween is one of my favorite occasions to craft for — there's just something about black, orange, and a little bit of spiderweb that makes a card feel instantly festive. Today I'm sharing a card that leans into that "spooky season" vibe with a pumpkin patch on the front and a sweet trick-or-treat surprise on the inside.

I started with a panel of Frightfully Fun Designer Series Paper in a moody grey spiderweb print, dotted with little flecks of white and scattered orange dots for extra sparkle. Those dots aren't a pre-printed embellishment — I made them myself by coloring a few Basic White dots from the Adhesive-Backed Bat, Ghosts and Dots with a Dark Pumpkin Pie Stampin' Blend before adhering them to the card front, which let me get that perfect punchy orange to match the rest of the palette. It's the perfect backdrop for a Halloween pumpkin patch.

Across the top, I added the "Spooky Season" phrase, an ephemera piece from the Harvest & Holly Mix and Match Specialty Ephemera Pack — I love that little spiders and spiderwebs are worked right into the lettering, so it does double duty as both sentiment and embellishment.

Underneath, I lined up a row of pumpkins from the Harvest Hues Mix and Match Ephemera Pack — yellow, brown, and two orange pumpkins, including a friendly jack-o'-lantern with a curled vine and a little mushroom tucked in beside it. To make that jack-o'-lantern pop off the page, I adhered it with Stampin' Dimensionals, so it sits just a bit higher than the rest of the patch and catches the light.

The whole panel is layered onto Basic Black cardstock card base.

Open it up, and the mood shifts to bright and cheerful. I adhered a layer of Pumpkin Pie cardstock to the card base, then topped it with a Basic White cardstock panel for a clean, simple frame.

For the sentiment, I stamped "Happy Halloween" from the Oh My Fright stamp set in Pumpkin Pie ink, keeping the two-tone, mixed-font look that set is known for. In the corner, a little pair of candy corn — also from the Harvest Hues Mix and Match Ephemera Pack — adds one more sweet, seasonal touch without competing with the sentiment.

This one came together quickly since so much of the design work is already done for you in the ephemera packs — sometimes the simplest builds make the biggest impact! I hope this gives you some inspiration for your own Halloween cards this season.
