BOO to You! A Spooky Shutter Card

Who says Halloween cards have to be scary? This fun Shutter Card combines spooky ghosts, creepy-crawly bats, and a big, friendly “BOO to you” for a Halloween card that is full of personality!

I started with a Basic Black cardstock card base and added strips of Frightfully Fun Designer Series Paper to create the Shutter Card design. The combination of the orange starry pattern with the spooky black-and-gray patterns creates lots of visual interest while keeping the Halloween theme going from edge to edge.

For the focal point, I cut a square from Basic White cardstock using one of the Stylish Shapes dies. The “BOO to you” sentiment from the Oh My Fright stamp set was stamped in Basic Black Hybrid ink.

The ghosts were fussy cut from the Frightfully Fun Designer Series Paper and added around the sentiment. I popped one of the ghosts up using a Black Stampin’ Dimensional, giving the card just a bit of extra dimension.

Of course, a Halloween card needs plenty of creepy-crawly friends! The swirly accent and bats were cut from Basic Black cardstock using the Oh My Fright dies, while the spider was cut using the Web of Fun dies. I also added a few black dots from the Adhesive-Backed Bats, Ghosts and Dots embellishments to complete the design.

A Little More Halloween Fun Inside

The inside keeps the spooky theme going with another sentiment and a fun cloud of bats from the Oh My Fright stamp set. Both were stamped in Basic Black Hybrid ink.

I love how all the different elements—from the fussy-cut ghosts to the bats, spider, and spooky DSP—come together to create a card that is unmistakably Halloween!

This was such a fun card to make, and the Frightfully Fun Designer Series Paper makes it easy to add lots of spooky details without having to stamp every element yourself.
