Happy Halloween Spider Card

Hi friends! Halloween is creeping up on us fast, and I've got a fun one to share today. This card was inspired by a sample I spotted online in the Web of Fun samples — I loved the graphic, high-contrast look so much that I had to make my own version. Black, White, and Pumpkin Pie is one of my favorite Halloween color combos, and this project let me play with dies, stamps, embossing, and even a little hand-drawn detail all on one card.

I started with a Basic Black cardstock card base, then added a Basic White cardstock panel that I ran through the Halloween themed folder from the Seasonal Cheer Mini Embossing Folders for a subtle, spooky texture in the background — you can just catch little bats and stars catching the light.

For the "HALLOWEEN" part of the sentiment, I backed that same white top panel with Adhesive Sheet and then cut the letters directly out of the panel using one of the Web of Fun dies, so the black card base peeks through and does all the work — no extra layering needed. For "Happy," I cut that word from Pumpkin Pie cardstock (also backed with Adhesive Sheet first) using a coordinating die from the same Web of Fun set, and tucked it in above "Halloween" for a fun overlap.

A little Web of Fun spider, die-cut from Basic Black cardstock, dangles in the upper corner. His "web" is actually a single strand of Black thread pulled from the Baker's Twine Essentials Pack — I untwisted a piece of the twine to get one fine thread, which gives it a much more delicate, realistic look than a thicker line would.

For the finishing touches, I scattered on some Adhesive-Backed Bats, Ghosts & Dots for accent. To get Pumpkin Pie Dots, I colored in few Basic White dots with a Dark Pumpkin Pie Stampin' Blend before adhering — just a little trick to stretch one set of dots into two shades without buying two products.

Keeping with the black, white, and pumpkin pie theme, the inside starts with a Pumpkin Pie panel adhered right to the Basic Black card base, topped with a Basic White panel. I stamped "Trick or Treat" from the Oh My Fright stamp set in Basic Black Hybrid ink for a crisp, solid sentiment, then added the spider web and spider from the Web of Fun stamp set, also in Basic Black Hybrid ink.

This time, instead of thread, I drew the spider's web line by hand with a Black Stampin' Journaling Pen — such a simple detail, but it adds a nice handmade touch and ties the inside back to the thread detail on the front.

BOO! Spiders and Bats Treat Box

This treat box begins with a Basic Black cardstock base that is a 2 3/8" square box. The back of the treat box is 4 1/4" high.

Halloween Spells Designer Series Paper was added to the back of the treat box.

Alphabet a' La Mode dies were used to make the letters along with Crushed Curry cardstock and retired Black Glitter paper.

The Basic Black cardstock bats were made using a retired Bitty Butterfly punch. A white chalk gel pen was used to make their eyes.

Retired Toil and Trouble Designer Series Paper was used on the box.

The Basic Black cardstock spider web is from the retired Frightful Tags dies.

The retired Spider Trinket is attached to Basic Black Baker's Twine.

The sentiment is from the Potions and Spells stamp set and has been stamped in Tuxedo Black Memento ink onto Crushed Curry cardstock.
