An Arrow Fun Fold Birthday Card with Berry Botanicals Vellum

Today I'm sharing a fun fold card that puts a gorgeous specialty paper front and center! This Arrow Fun Fold design creates such a dynamic shape, and it was the perfect way to showcase the Berry Botanicals Vellum Specialty Designer Series Paper.

I started with a Golden Glow cardstock card base, which gives such a warm, sunny frame to the design. For the fun fold mechanism, I layered the angled triangular Soft Sea Foam panels underneath, then added the panels cut from the Berry Botanicals Vellum DSP. The translucent quality of the vellum lets the rich blues, reds, and golds of the floral pattern really glow, especially with the Soft Sea Foam peeking through underneath.

For the focal sentiment, I die cut a detailed circle from Soft Sea Foam cardstock using the Spotlight on Nature dies and stamped "Happy Birthday" in Secret Sea ink from the Loveliest Tree stamp set. To tie everything together, I fussy cut a couple of the purple floral blooms directly from the Berry Botanicals Vellum paper and tucked them on top of the sentiment label, giving it a layered, dimensional feel. A few of the 2026-2028 In-Color Dots in Crisp Cantaloupe were scattered across the panels for little pops of color and shine.

Opening up the card, I kept the inside simple and elegant. I stamped the moths from the Fern & Flora stamp set in the upper corners, and added the sentiment "To a marvelous person on their birthday!" from the Sending Salutations stamp set, stamped on Basic White cardstock in Secret Sea ink to coordinate with the front.

I love how the angular fun fold design adds so much visual interest while still letting that beautiful specialty paper be the star of the show. This card would be perfect for any birthday, especially for someone who loves a garden-fresh floral look!

Thanks so much for stopping by today.

A Birthday Card with Valley in Bloom

Card Making · Stampin' Up!

A Birthday Card with Valley in Bloom

Arrow Cut · Lily of the Valley · Blackberry Bliss

There's something so satisfying about a card that looks elaborate but comes together with a few smart cuts. This Arrow Card does exactly that — a bold geometric layout wrapped in the most beautiful lily of the valley patterned paper.

I've been absolutely smitten with the Valley in Bloom Designer Series Paper since I first laid eyes on it. That lush, painterly lily of the valley print practically begs to be the star of any project, and the Arrow Cut technique is the perfect stage for it. The geometric diagonal lines let the pattern show from two angles at once, creating a framed, dimensional feel without any actual 3D elements.

Card front — Valley in Bloom DSP with stamped focal flower

Card inside — white triangle panel with Fern & Flora moths

Building the Arrow Cut

The base card starts with Basic Beige cardstock, layered over a mat of rich Blackberry Bliss. That deep plum-purple is absolutely perfect with the greens and soft lavenders in the Valley in Bloom print — it anchors everything without competing with the florals. The diagonal cuts of the arrow reveal the DSP on both the left and right panels, while the inverted triangle in the center gives you a beautiful, open canvas.

The two DSP panels are cut and adhered so the lily of the valley blooms fall at the outer edges, framing the design in lush greenery. A few Barely Blush 2026–2028 In Color Dots are scattered across the floral panels as accents — they catch the light just enough to add a little sparkle without distracting from the botanical print.

The Focal Flower & Sentiment

On the card front, a Lily of the Valley stamp takes center stage beside the sentiment. I stamped it in Basic Black Hybrid ink, then colored it using a Blender Pen with Garden Green ink for the stems and leaves, with Dark Granny Apple Green and Light Barely Blush Stampin' Blends for depth and the soft blush tones of the delicate bells. The result is a hand-painted look that ties beautifully into the DSP.

The sentiment — "Happy Birthday" — is from the Loveliest Tree stamp set, stamped in Blackberry Bliss ink. It sits inside a circle label cut with the Spotlight on Nature dies, that elegant stitched-edge die that adds just the right amount of detail without fuss.

Coloring Tip

When using a Blender Pen to lift ink from a stamp pad, work in small circular motions on the ink pad, then apply to your stamped image in layers. This gives you much more control over where color lands than stamping directly with the ink.

The Inside — Where the Butterflies Live

I love when a card's inside feels just as intentional as the outside. The arrow cut creates a perfect inverted triangle on the interior, so I stamped the sentiment on a piece of Basic White cardstock and adhered it right onto that Basic Beige triangle panel. The message — "To a marvelous person on their birthday!" — is from the Sending Salutations stamp set, stamped in Blackberry Bliss ink.

And then the butterflies. Two moths from the Fern and Flora stamp set flutter in the upper right corner, also stamped in Blackberry Bliss. They feel whimsical and a little unexpected — exactly the kind of detail that makes someone smile when they open the card.

This card came together so quickly once I had the arrow panels cut — it's one of those techniques that looks complex but is really just about precision measuring and a confident cut. The combination of Blackberry Bliss with the soft botanical print feels both elegant and fresh, and I think that balance of dramatic geometry with delicate florals is exactly what makes it work.

Whether you're making one for a birthday or building a small batch to have on hand, the Valley in Bloom DSP does all the heavy lifting. I hope this inspires you to pull yours out and get creating!
