A Beachy Birthday Card with the Words and Wishes Dies

Today I'm sharing a fun, sunny birthday card that's perfect for any beach lover! This card came together using a mix of techniques to create a realistic ocean and sand scene.

For the background, I created the "water" effect using the Water mask from the Water & Dotted Lines Decorative Masks, applying Lost Lagoon ink with a Blending Brush for that beautiful sea glass texture. For the sand, I used the "sand" stamp from the Rolling Waves stamp set and blended it with Crumb Cake ink. To give the sand some extra sparkle, I went over it with a Golden Glow Shimmer Brush, which adds a lovely sun-kissed shimmer.

The "Happy Birthday" sentiment is the real showstopper here. I cut it out using the Words and Wishes Dies from the gorgeous Iridescent Sunset Shimmer Vellum Specialty Paper, giving it a soft, pearlescent shine that catches the light beautifully against the ocean background.

To complete the beach scene, I added pieces from the Under The Sun Mix and Match Ephemera Pack, including a striped beach chair, a cheerful yellow umbrella, and an assortment of seashells and a starfish scattered along the shore. A few Antique Pearls were tucked in among the sand for some extra dimensional sparkle.

Inside the card, I kept things simple and cheerful. The sentiment, stamped in Lost Lagoon ink, is from the Splash & Relax stamp set, and I added the flip flops from the Under The Sun Mix & Match Ephemera Pack to keep that beachy vibe going strong.

This card is perfect for sending warm birthday wishes to anyone dreaming of sand between their toes!

Rolling Waves Birthday Card #2

There’s something so peaceful about the rhythm of the ocean—and this card set captures that feeling beautifully.

For today’s project, I created a coastal-inspired birthday card using the Rolling Waves Bundle, bringing texture, movement, and a touch of seaside magic to life. The front of the card features layered waves that were carefully die-cut and arranged to mimic the gentle roll of the tide. The soft gradient background was created using ink and blending brushes, giving that dreamy transition from deep ocean to shoreline.

One of my favorite details is the sandy beach. To achieve that realistic “wet sand” look, I used clear embossing powder and heat embossed over the inked area. The result is a subtle shimmer that catches the light just like sunlight on damp sand—such a fun technique that really elevates the design!

To finish the front, I added a few die-cut seashells and starfish, which were colored using Stampin' Blends, for a pop of warmth and texture, along with a simple birthday sentiment tied with Crumb Cake Baker’s Twine for a natural, beachy touch.

Inside the card, I kept things clean and calming, echoing the wave design along the bottom edge. A few more starfish carry the theme through, while the sentiment “Hoping your day is perfect” leaves plenty of space for a personal message.

This project is a wonderful reminder that with a few thoughtful techniques—layering, blending, and embossing—you can turn simple supplies into something truly special. It’s the perfect card for anyone who loves the ocean… or just needs a little escape to the shore.
