Boo Crew Assemble! A Frightfully Fun Halloween Card

Okay, can we talk about how much personality five little ghosts can have? I had way too much fun putting this card together, and I'm pretty sure it's going straight to the top of my "cards I don't actually want to give away" pile. Halloween cards get to be a little silly, a little spooky, and a whole lot of fun, and this one hits all three.

Setting the Scene

I started with a Basic Black cardstock base, because honestly, is there a better backdrop for Halloween than good old classic black? It's the perfect stage for all the orange and ghostly goodness that was about to happen on top of it.

For the main event, I reached for the Frightfully Fun Designer Series Paper. That pumpkin-orange background covered in little ghosts and bats is basically Halloween in paper form, and it gave me the perfect playground to work with.

Enter the Ghost Squad

Here's where things got fun. I fussy cut five different ghosts straight from the Frightfully Fun DSP, each one with its own funny little expression, some smiling, some smirking, one even looks like it's mid-giggle. Popping them up on Stampin' Dimensionals gave them that little bit of lift so they float above the background instead of just blending in. There's something about dimension that makes a card feel like it has movement, like those ghosts are actually drifting across the page looking for candy.

To tie everything together (literally), I added some elegant black swirls cut from the Oh My Fright dies in Basic Black cardstock. They curl and twist around the ghosts like little vines of spookiness, and they do a great job of filling space without competing with the star of the show.

The Pumpkin and the Banner

No Halloween card is complete without at least one pumpkin, so I pulled a sweet jack-o'-lantern from the Harvest Hues Mix & Match Ephemera Pack and adhered it with Black Stampin' Dimensionals for a little extra pop. That grinning pumpkin face just makes me happy every time I look at it.

For the sentiment on the front, I went with a bold little banner from the Harvest & Holly Mix & Match Ephemera Pack that asks the big question: "Trick? -or- Treat?" It's simple, it's punchy, and it fits right into that black-and-orange color scheme like it was made for this card. (It basically was.)

The two Ephemera Packs used for this card will be available starting September 1, 2026.

What's Waiting Inside

Open the card up and the fun keeps going. I adhered a Pumpkin Pie panel to the card base for a warm pop of color, then stamped the sentiment "Happy Halloween" on a Basic White panel using the Oh My Fright stamp set in Basic Black ink. Clean, classic, and to the point, exactly what you want for a sentiment that's sharing the spotlight with more embellishments.

Speaking of embellishments, I couldn't resist adding one more fussy cut ghost from the Frightfully Fun DSP to the inside panel. This one's got the sweetest little smile and looks like it's waving hello, which felt like the perfect way to greet whoever opens this card.

Final Thoughts

This card was one of those projects where every layer made me smile a little more. Between the fussy cutting, the dimensional pop-ups, and that perfectly moody black-and-orange color palette, it's silly, it's spooky, and it's just plain fun to make (and hopefully just as fun to receive).
