A Stack and Shuffle Halloween Card #1

Happy haunting, friends! Today I'm sharing a fun and easy technique called Stack and Shuffle, inspired by cards I've seen from the talented Patty Bennett. If you've never tried it before, it's exactly what it sounds like — you stack up a few coordinating panels of designer series paper, cut them all at once, and then shuffle the pieces around before reassembling. The result is a card front with a fun patchwork look, and no two cards ever turn out quite the same!

For my version, I went spooky with the Frightfully Fun Designer Series Paper, and I love how the mix of orange, black, and ghost-print patterns came together.

How It Came Together

I started by stacking a few pieces of the Frightfully Fun DSP together and cutting them into sections, then shuffled and reassembled the pieces onto a Basic Black card base to get that fun, mismatched patchwork background.

From there, I layered on a spiderweb and spider cut from Basic Black cardstock using the Web of Fun Dies — the web really is the star of this card, spanning almost the whole front and giving the "Happy Halloween" sentiment somewhere fun to sit. I colored over the top of the spider and the fussy cut Ghost with the Wink of Stella Glitter Brush to give them just a bit of sparkle without going overboard.

That "Happy Halloween" sentiment is cut using the Words For the Season Dies, but instead of cardstock I cut it from Berry Burst Garden Textures Specialty Foil Sheets (the Garden Textures Specialty Foil Sheets was listed in the Last Chance Products List when I wrote this blog and is only available while supplies last) that I'd backed with a piece of Adhesive Sheet first — that little bit of foil is what gives the lettering that pop of shimmery magenta against all the black and orange.

Tucked into the web is a little ghost, fussy cut from the Frightfully Fun DSP, along with some of the adorable mini bats and black dots from the Adhesive-Backed Bats, Ghosts and Dots — I scattered a few of those little embellishments around the panel for extra detail.

Inside, I kept things simple so the focus stays on the front. The "BOO to you" sentiment and the little cloud of bats are both from the Oh My Fright stamp set, stamped in Basic Black Hybrid ink.

New Years Blog Hop

Welcome to the Team Stamp It Groups Happy New Years Blog Hop!

Happy New Year!

Secret Sea cardstock was used for the card base, followed by Gold Foil.

The top panel is Secret Sea cardstock that has been heat embossed using the Falling Snow stamp along with WOW! Gold Embossing Powder.

The Secret Sea cardstock balloons were also heat embossed with WOW! Gold Embossing Powder and were cut out using the Bee Builder Punch. The "0" and the "6" balloons have been popped up using Black Stampin' Dimensionals.

Gold Foil, which has been backed with Adhesive Sheet prior to being cut out with the Alphabet A La Mode dies, were used to make the numbers.

The Happy New Year sentiment was cut out using Gold Foil and the Words For The Season dies.

The sentiment on the inside of the card is from the Words For The Season stamp set and has been stamped in Secret Sea ink onto Basic White cardstock.
