A Little Sunshine in Card Form: Summer Happiness

I'm so excited to share this sweet little card with you today! I made this one during a training I attended at the Stampin' Up! Home Office in Riverton, Utah, and it's been sitting in my "must share" pile ever since. There's something about a sunny pineapple and a pair of flip-flops that just makes me want to slip into summer mode, even when I'm sitting at my craft desk.

The Inspiration

This project came together using the gorgeous Summer Happiness Washi Tape, which I love for exactly projects like this one. Instead of stamping the images, I adhered strips of the washi tape to Basic White cardstock, and then fussy-cut the shapes out using the coordinating Summer Happiness dies. It's such a fun, low-fuss way to get clean, colorful images without breaking out a single ink pad for the main elements — the sun, the pineapple, and the flip-flops all came together this way.

Adding the Sparkle

No summer card is complete without a little shimmer! I used Clear Sunset Sparkle Sequins for the dotted accents scattered across the panel, but rather than leaving them as-is, I colored them yellow using a Dark Darling Duckling Stampin' Blends marker. It's such a simple trick, but it lets you customize the exact tone of sparkle you want to match your color palette instead of being stuck with what comes in the package.

Bringing It All Together

The card base is the Basic White Note Cards and Envelopes, which gives you a clean, ready-made canvas to build on. I adhered the decorated panel to the note card front using Stampin' Dimensionals, which adds just enough lift to make the sun, pineapple, and flip-flops pop off the page with a bit of dimension and shadow.

For the sentiment, I reached for the Botanical Expressions stamp set and stamped the "you're wonderful in every way" greeting in Basic Black ink. The mix of the playful script and clean block lettering felt like the perfect pairing for this sunny, laid-back design.

Final Thoughts

This card is proof that you don't need a complicated process to make something cheerful and eye-catching — washi tape, a few dies, some colored sequins, and a great sentiment stamp can take you a long way. I had so much fun making this one at the training, and I hope it inspires you to pull out your own Summer Happiness supplies and create a little sunshine of your own!
