A Valley in Bloom: Lily of the Valley Birthday Card

There is something quietly magical about lily of the valley — those delicate little bells nodding on their stems, tucked beneath broad green leaves. This card captures all of that gentle beauty, and I am so in love with how it turned out.

Spring has arrived in full force on my craft desk, and I could not resist pairing the

gorgeous Valley in Bloom Designer Series Paper with Stampin' Up!'s Lily of the

Valley dies to create this birthday card. The result is lush, layered, and just a little

bit whimsical — especially with those fluttery butterflies dancing across the front!

The Valley in Bloom Designer Series Paper does all the heavy lifting for the background — its soft watercolor illustration of lily of the valley creates the most dreamy, garden-fresh backdrop. I mounted it on a Pretty Peacock card base to give it just a touch of depth and structure around the edges, which helps the lighter florals pop beautifully.

This is where the card really comes to life. The Lily of the Valley dies were used to cut the individual flower bell shapes, and each one was gently inked with Coastal Cabana ink before being shaped into those characteristic nodding blooms. The soft blue-white of Coastal Cabana gives the flowers a delicate, almost translucent quality — just like real lily of the valley.

The flower stems were cut from Granny Apple Green cardstock, providing a fresh and crisp green that grounds all those airy white bells. Layering the dimensional flowers over the designer paper creates wonderful depth — you almost feel like you could reach in and pick a stem!

✦ Technique tip

After cutting the Lily of the Valley die shapes, use a bone folder or spoon to gently curl each bell before assembling. This little step adds incredible dimension and makes the flowers look lifelike.

Three butterflies from the All Aflutter stamp set and matching punch flutter across the card, adding movement and a pop of color. They were stamped on Basic White cardstock using the new Hybrid Basic Black Stampin' Pad, which gives a beautifully crisp outline — perfect for coloring in with Stampin' Blends.

The wings were colored using a gorgeous, nature-inspired palette of Stampin' Blends: Light Summer Splash, Light Granny Apple Green, Light Lemon Lime Twist and Dark Highland Heather.

The combination of those fresh greens against the rich purple of Highland Heather is just stunning — it mirrors the colors found in the designer paper beautifully. To finish the butterflies, a little Wink of Stella was brushed over the wings, giving them a subtle shimmer that catches the light.

The "Happy Birthday" greeting sits on a Pretty Peacock sentiment label — that deep teal is such a perfect anchor for the card. The sentiment, from the Lily of the Valley stamp set, was heat embossed using Clear embossing powder, which gives it a gorgeous raised, glossy finish. It feels polished and intentional, like a little ribbon tied around the whole design.

A scattering of White Shimmering Dots across the card adds just the right amount

of sparkle — a few near the butterflies, a few tucked among the flowers. They

catch the light like tiny dewdrops and bring the whole garden scene together.

I hope this card inspires you to pull out your Lily of the Valley collection and create something beautiful!
