Welcome to the Team Stamp It blog hop. Whether you started the blog hop with my blog or hopped to mine from one of my team mates blog, I am glad you stopped by. Halloween is such a fun time of year, with the fall colors and the decorated pumpkins, spooky ghosts and scary witches. Plus, for me, it signals the start of the Holiday season.
Speaking of Holiday season, have you had a chance to take a look at the new Holiday Catalog? It is full of cute ideas, great stamps and awesome tools. I want it all!! The card for this blog hop was made using products from the new Holiday catalog.
To make this card, the first thing you will want to do is punch a hole in the upper
left third of large Post-it note using the 2” circle punch. Adhere the sticky side of the Post-it note to the Whisper White card front
panel, placing the circle where you would like your moon to be located. Save the circle that you punched out
of the Post-it note, you will use it later. Now we can begin to create the moon, by coloring the inside of the 2” punched hole, using So Saffron ink. Make sure that you color the entire opening with the So Saffron ink. I found that I liked using a piece of a Stampin' Sponge to color in the moon and the sky, but you could also use a sponge dauber. The next color of ink used is Crushed Curry. Using the Crushed Curry ink, color the moon starting along the outer part of the moon and working your color slightly toward the center. You will want to leave some of the So Saffron color untouched in the middle of the moon. The final color is Cajun Craze. With the Cajun Craze ink, color along the outside part of the moon just along the outer edge.
Now you can remove the Post-it note
and place the 2" circle, which you saved when you punched out the hole for the moon, on the “moon” you just
created.
To color the sky, you will want to color the top two-thirds of
the card front using Soft Sky ink. I found that it worked best, if I held down the edges of the Post-it note, when I got close to it with the Soft Sky ink, this would prevent any smears or slips of Soft Sky color getting onto the moon. The next color I used for the sky was Marina Mist. Starting around the outside edge of the card front work your way towards the moon using the Marina Mist ink. Make sure you leave an area around the moon Soft Sky. The last color used for the sky was Dapper Denim. Once again, start sponging the Dapper Denim color around the outer edge of the card front and work your way towards the moon, making sure you are leaving some of the Soft Sky and Marina
Mist showing around the moon.
Color the lower third
of the card front with Elegant Eggplant ink, blending it in with the Dapper Denim ink where the two colors intersect.
Color the bottom one-fourth of the card front with Early Espresso ink, making sure to blend it in with Elegant Eggplant ink where the two colors intersect.
Remove the Post-it note that is protecting the moon and viola! look how awesome your sky looks!!
Use the Spooky Fun photopolymer stamp set and the Halloween Scenes Edgelits dies to decorate the card front, as desired.
The inside of the card was made by heat embossing white embossing powder using the sentiments and ghosts from the Spooky Fun photopolymer stamp set.
The card front panel was adhered to a Basic Black card base using either your favorite adhesive or Stampin’ dimensionals.
