When I saw this Bay Window technique used on a card made by Mixed Up Craft I knew I had to give it a try.
This card was made using the Pirates & Mermaids stamp set along with the Layering Diorama, Sea Life and Smooth Sailing Dies. While this card may look difficult to make, it really was quite easy and goes together quick.
This card will lay completely flat to easily fit into a larger envelope.
The card works similar to an easel card, with the fish and the treasure chest holding the card front in place.
The treasure chest is from the Pirates & Mermaids stamp set. I used the VersaMark refill bottle to squeeze some VersaMark on the opening of the treasure chest and then heat embossed it with Gold Emboss powder. Once heat embossed, I added various Rhinestone Jewels to make it look like gemstones.
The fish from the Sea Life die set was cut out using the Mango Melody portion of the Rainbow Glimmer Paper and the Stampin' Cut & Emboss machine.
The Smoky Slate anchor was covered with Wink of Stella Glitter Paint and then a piece of Linen Thread was wrapped around it.
The seahorse, fish and coral are from the Sea Life die set and have been cut out using the Rainbow Glimmer Paper.
The mermaid is from the Pirates & Mermaids stamp set. The mermaid was stamped in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink onto Basic White cardstock and then fussy cut. The mermaid tail was colored with Light and Dark Bermuda Bay and Light Shaded Spruce Stampin' Blends and then colored over with Wink of Stella Glitter paint. Her skin was colored with an Ivory Stampin' Blend.
The pilots wheel is from the Smooth Sailing die set and is adhered to the card front with a Round Brad so that the wheel will spin around.
Here's a look at the card without the front panel. Shimmery Crystal Effects and Opal Rounds were used to make the "air bubbles".
The retired Whale of a Time Designer Series Paper was used for the background on this card.
