Alex's 11th Birthday

In January, my grandson had his 11th Birthday.

The theme for his birthday was LEGO's.

I always try to make him a birthday card that goes along with the theme of his birthday.  This was my attempt.  Most of the Stampin' Up! products used were retired.

The knobs on the LEGO bricks were made by adhering cardstock to a piece of Foam Adhesive Sheet and then punching the circle out using a 1/4" Circle Punch.  Once punched out, I used a coordinating color Stampin' Blends to color the edges of the foam circle so that it matched the color of the brick.

The Happy Birthday sentiment is from the retired Bring on the Cake stamp set and has been stamped in Tuxedo Black Memento ink, then colored using Stampin' Blends.

The "11" was cut out using the retired Playful Alphabet dies and the retired Rainbow Glimmer Paper.

The balloons were cut out using the retired Balloon Bouquet punch.  Once the balloons were cut out, a White Gel Pen was used to highlight the balloon. The balloons were adhered to the front panel using Stampin' Dimensionals.

Real Red and White Bakers Twine was used to make the strings on the balloons.  The twine was adhered to the front panel using a Mini Glue Dot.

The LEGO man was a combination of several LEGO images I found on Pinterest.
For the inside of the card, the sentiment is from the Bring on the Cake stamp set and has been stamped in Tuxedo Black Memento ink and then colored using Stampin' Blends.

The knobs on the LEGO bricks were cut out with a 1/4" Circle Punch and cardstock.  I did not use Foam Adhesive for the bricks on the inside of the card.

For his cake, our local bakery did not make LEGO cakes, so we ended up making a LEGO cake ourselves.

My grandson drew out what he wanted the cake to look like, see below.

Here's what we ended up with.  The LEGO bricks were made out of fondant.
He said it was exactly how he had wanted it!

Hope you enjoyed my post for today!
